How to Replace the Battery

How do you replace a CR2450 battery
The BMW key fob provides security and convenience with the push of one button. However with time, the battery inside the BMW key fob can weaken and require replacement to continue working correctly. Understanding how to replace the BMW key fob will assist you in getting back on the road again swiftly and quickly.
Although there are a variety of types of BMW key fobs however, they all use the same battery type that is a CR2450 or CR2032 coin cell. This small, round battery is commonly found in most stores and is available for less than a dollar for each unit. In addition to being easily accessible, CR2450 batteries are also very easy to install and remove from the key fob.
To replace the CR2450 batteries in your BMW find the tab that opens the metal valet inside the fob. How do I replace the CR2032 Side Indent Battery
The CR2032 side indent battery in the BMW series 1 key fob (and other models) is simple to replace. The battery looks like a penny and slides into the slot easily. Replace the battery you have used before with the new one using your fingers. Make sure to ensure that the polarity is in line. You can also find replacement batteries in many auto parts stores and online.
If your BMW has an engraved key fob, the process is slightly more difficult. You cannot replace the CR2016 battery because it is different from a CR2032, CR2025 or a CR2032. You can test if it works by rotating a CR2016 using aluminum foil that is conductive. If you can't get it to work, you'll need to cut off the fob part of the plastic to expose the battery, and then put into a new one.
The small access port found on many BMW key fobs can be opened with the edge of a key's metal blade or screwdriver with a flat head. If you don't have a metal blade you can try using the pencil's tip. After you've removed your cover, you can see the CR2032 battery inside.
The CR2032 side-indent battery is not designed to be serviced and the case is not opened. The battery is rechargeable and is charged when you insert the ignition key.
